The webinar is presented by Christopher F. Voehl, CEO and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. In the webinar, Voehl discusses the values of Lean Six Sigma and helps individuals understand the Lean Six Sigma formula for achieving stellar results. The formula first targets corporate “waste.” That is, for an enterprise to thrive, it must first identify the barriers keeping it from achieving its goals and then eliminate them. The waste might include defects, overproduction, waiting (most common), underutilized employees, transportation, inventory, motion and extra processing.
Once waste is tackled, the focus shifts toward improving the quality of workflow, which will ultimately lead to reduced lead time and reduced total costs. To achieve Six Sigma, an enterprise must only experience 3.4 defects per 1 million opportunities. Voehl knows that this is an extremely lofty goal for any enterprise to achieve, but had this to say: “It’s the pursuit of quality; it’s the pursuit of near perfection that improves the organization. Let’s say you only get to 65 percent effectiveness, but before you were at 50; well that’s an improvement and should be celebrated.”
